When Trump came into office, he appointed a couple of his fellows to develop a plan for peace in the Middle East, a plan to resolve the disputes between Israel and Palestinians. Kushner and Greenblatt got to work, traveling around the region holding talks with various of the countries involved. Not with the Palestinian Authority, however. Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing it as the capital of Israel. The Palestinians got something to, a massive cut in financial support from the US. I guess the theory was that the Palestinians would shuffle their feet and apologize in exchange for getting their allowance returned to prior levels. If there was a theory. I don't have any real sense of what the theory was. But then, I also have no idea what the plan for peace is or was. Seems to have ruled out Jerusalem or any part of it as a capital for Palestine. The US reduced its financial support. So, maybe an embargo on aid of any kind? Upped the support for Israel. The US has not yet come out and said that the Israeli settlements are illegal (but did manage some statements that expanding old and establishing new settlements is not helpful). Well, I just have newspapers to follow along. Nevertheless, I wonder what happened to the peace plan? Was it ever anything more than "give Israel whatever it wants and squash the Palestinians"?
