Last week the SL Tribune published a very good OpEd piece by David Irvine. The piece is about the so-called "torture memos" and the lawyers who wrote them. The key point is that the lawyers who wrote the memos all shared certain characteristics: (1) None had military experience, (2) none had law enforcement experience, and (3) none had interrogation experience. The result was memos justifying torture. That one of the fellows sits onthe federal bench is shameful. A judge who does not care for the rule of law or for precedent, a judge willing to give whatever answer his supervisors ask for.
