Andy Sulick was my 5th grade Math teacher, in the early 80's at an american school in Germany. My memories of him now are vague, but I remember a shock of blond hair and indeed a sheepish quality. He was kind and interested in his students, and when I moved away we kept in touch for a number of years. I was stunned to receive one letter back while I was in high school, with an accompanying note from the school administrators that he had passed away. Thirty years on, I still remember him. Wonderful poem.
